Miro in Brussels!
![]() |
| Joan Miro, Constellation 3 |
A big number of Miro's paintings, etchings, sculptures and drawings are presented from today until 19/06 at the Royal museums of fine arts of Brussels. The exhibition emphasizes the artistic period of the artist before the second world war and also includes the famous Constellation series, which are painted during the war years.
The objective of the exhibition is to reveal the poetical aspects of the work of the Catalan artist. This is an aim not so difficult to be achieved as far as Joan Miro (1893-1983) associated for several years with the surrealists in Paris, has created a number of poetic symbols. Dancing insects, enormous women, stick animals and many more symbolic figures create Miro's personal univers. Even if all those symbols have their dark routes, Miro remains the painter of the colors and light. And although his paintings may seem childish it was for him a tortured procedure to arrive at this level of artistic freedom.
An interesting point of the exhibition is the interactive workstations presented as experience laboratories, in order to explore further Miro's creative process.
